Wow, year and a half since my last post... oops...
So with the start of the new year comes resolutions and new plans. No, I have not made a formal resolution, but I will share the funniest resolution I've heard... a few years ago, a friend made the resolution to gain 5lbs. He's a slender guy so if he gained the 5lbs, yay for keeping a resolution and if he didn't gain the 5lbs, yay for not gaining weight! Win-win in his book.
Well, the company I work for has decided to help those of us who overate during the holidays or made a New Year's resolution to lose weight by starting a "Biggest Loser" contest at work. Pretty simple, pay $50 to enter and if you lose 10% of your starting weight by April 29, 12% by August 29 (or kept off what you lost), and 14% (or kept off what you lost) by December 29, you win $200 for each of those goals you hit. Plus the top 3 losers get additional money on each of those 3 dates - if you're the biggest loser every single time, $3600 is yours! (Hopefully tax free!). After being asked on 3 separate occasions by coworkers if I was entering, I took that as the peverbial "Holy 2x4" as well as kick in the pants to join, though it did take a couple heart-to-heart therapy sessions. But I'm in it, and since I took out an IOU for the $50 entrance fee to come out of my winnings, I better work at it!
So, as part of my changing lifestyle (health only, don't read into that one!) I've decided to post here every day 1 good thing I did for my health. So here goes...
Today, I got back on the spin bike and rode for about 25 minutes. I forgot how much those little seats hurt until you get used to them again! Yes, I became an MS150 statistic by finishing the ride and not riding again until the next year. My excuse was I was playing softball right after the ride and it's hot in the summer in Texas, and my bike doesn't have air conditioning that doesn't involve me pedaling. Lame excuse, but still an excuse. But I've gotten back on the spin bike, took a couple tries to clip in, but I was there, and got through the songs I planned on. Next time, I'll stay on for 1 more song and just keep building up that way.
If you've made any resolutions, good luck with them!
